Code With Josh

I've spent the last two decades doing full-stack development, working with clients ranging from scrappy startups to Apple's retail engineering org, and in 2013 I founded Daedalus Dreams to keep building things for people directly.

I love working directly with people to help them address very specific needs, often helping them to solve problems that they didn't realize they were having.
Oftentimes people don't think that "Then I have to copy-paste code from this website into a spreadsheet..." is a solvable problem, and it's incredibly enjoyable to make a tangible difference in somebody's quality of life by providing just the right solution.

Because of the variety of projects and customers I've worked with, I've had experience in a huge range of languages and frameworks, and that's something that I've embraced. With modern tooling, understanding the core concepts of software engineering — as well as having a strong ability to work with the end user to understand the true problem — is more important than being the world's foremost expert in a particular language.
Do I prefer functional programming? Yes. Is it always the correct answer? No.

I'm open to working either full-time or part-time for interesting opportunities. Take a look at my resume and see if I might be a good fit for your needs.
